A PRINCESS OF MARS By Edgar Rice Burroughs

A Princess of Mars was originally serialized in six parts in All-Story as Under the Moons of Mars. The A.C. McClurg Company issued the first hardcover edition in 1917 with dust jacket art and five internals by Frank E. Schoonover. From 1918 through 1939, Grosset & Dunlap issued hardcover reprints. In 1948, Edgar Rice Burroughs Inc. issued a hardcover reprint edition. This title fell out of print in the United States until the first paperback edition, by Ballantine, in 1963, with cover art by Robert Abbett. Ballantine reissued this title with new cover art by Gino D'Achille in 1973. In 1979, another edition, under the Ballantine-Del Rey imprint, was issued with cover art by Michael Whelan. In the 1970's, the entire Mars series was available in hardcover from the Science Fiction Book Club.
