SYNTHETIC MEN OF MARS By Edgar Rice Burroughs

Synthetic Men of Mars, the 9th title in the John Carter of Mars series, was first serialized in six parts in Argosy Weekly in 1939. The first hardcover edition was issued by Edgar Rice Burroughs Inc. in 1940. The dust jacket art and five internals were by John Coleman Burroughs. In 1948, ERB Inc. reissued this title. The first paperback edition was issued by Ballantine in 1963 with cover art by Robert Abbett. Ballantine reissued this title with new cover art by Gino D'Achille in 1973. In 1979, another edition, under the Ballantine-Del Rey imprint, was issued with cover art by Michael Whelan. In the 1970's, this title was issued in a 2-in-1 hardcover volume, along with Swords of Mars, by the Science Fiction Book Club.
